Irvine and Dreghorn Brass Band – Dawn to Dusk Golf Challenge.
On Thursday 25 June, 3 members of Irvine and Dreghorn Brass Band – Colin Stevely, Derek Leitch & Steven Purss- will be taking on a real challenge! They will golf all day long – from dawn to dusk at Irvine Golf Club Bogside in Irvine. Once they finish the full 18 holes, they will start all over again and will keep going around the 18 holes until there is no more light.
Irvine and Dreghorn Brass are currently fundraising to compete at the National Championships in Cheltenham, which we qualified for in March.
IDB Golf Team Captain, Colin Stevely said: “It’s going to be a long day and we’re planning to do as many holes as possible.. the sky is the limit.. or perhaps it will be the blisters! We’ll be starting about 3am and will keep going until the sun goes down. Our fellow band members will be helping us throughout the day by caddying and keeping us fed and watered and generally cheering us on. We’d love your support. We are running two competitions with fabulous prizes to guess the hole we finish at; as well as guessing the hole we will lose the bright yellow ball we will be teeing off at 3am with.. or you can make a text donation to the band to show your support.”
To make a donation to the band to support this dawn to dusk feat, you can text IDBB15 £2 to 70070. To change the donation amount, simply change the £2 to £1, £3, £4, £5 or £10. To guess the hole they will finish at (for example hole 72) or where they will lose the yellow ball (for example hole 15) simply contact any band member (or via the contact details below) with your guess and the £2 entry fee per competition.
More about IDB: We have been in existence since the early 70’s and are a local band open to all. We are also a registered Scottish charity. In addition to the Senior Band, we have a Youth band and Brasslets Beginners Band, which supplies kids from as young as 6 with brass instruments and tuition.
