On Saturday the 11th of March, the band attended the Scottish Brass Band Championships at Perth Concert Hall. The band played Darkwood by Dan Price and were delighted to have won the 3rd Section and our Principal Euphonium Dawn Spence was award the Best Instrumentalist Prize.

The adjudicators awarded the band 184 points giving us a 4 point clear victory. Comments from adjudicators Chris Wormald and Steve Pritchard-Jones included 'well rehearsed and well executed' and 'overall a good performance with many musical touches'.

Musical Director Helen Douthwaite-Teasdale said 'I am so proud of the band for delivering such a fine performance in Perth. We recieved lots of positive feedback from judges and are looking forward to go and represent Scotland at the National Finals in September.'

This is the first time the band has won the 3rd Section and the second win in the bands history after winning the 4th Section in 1985.

The band have now qualified to represent Scotland in the 3rd Section National Finals in Cheltenham in September this year. Plans are well underway for this, keep an eye on our website and social media for more information on our fundraising events.
