Buzzing after the bell, at Springside Primary!

Monday nights will never sound the same again for the staff (and pupils) of Springside Primary School! Shortly after the final bell this Monday, our Musical Director Lewis Bettles and band Chairman Alister Cush got buzzing, jumping, yelling and making all sorts of music in the gymnasium as part of our ongoing PBuzz project.

The initiative, supported by the National Lottery Community Fund, aims to introduce young people to the basics of brass instrument playing and does so in a fun and active manner that will hopefully encourage their interest in taking up music lessons after the course has finished.

The course is early in its ten week schedule and is proving more popular each week. At the end of the project every participant will have the opportunity to continue learning a brass instrument if they wish to do so, thanks to the funding made available to support Irvine and Dreghorn Brass over the last year. As we come out of the pandemic, we will look to continue brass and percussion education initiatives that provide context and musical opportunities out with the school environment. Many thanks also to John Boax our youth conductor who has helped get the class established and is also delivering pBuzz lessons.

If you would like to know more about how to get your children or indeed yourself involved in brass music for the first time, send us an E-Mail at contact@idbrass.com and we will be in touch to see how you can get involved!
