Day 1, Course 1: Loudoun Gowf Club

Welcome to the first day of the highly anticipated charity golf event! Today, we find ourselves at the picturesque Loudoun Gowf Club, where our four talented players—Steven, Derek, Jordan, and Simon—are teeing off in support of the Irvine & Dreghorn Brass band. The goal of this event is to raise funds for the band's journey to the prestigious UK National Brass Band Championships in Cheltenham this September.

Loudoun Gowf Club, located in the heart of Ayrshire, Scotland, has a rich history dating back to 1909. This traditional parkland course offers a unique challenge to golfers of all levels. With its undulating fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, it's no wonder this course is a favourite among locals and visitors alike.

As we follow Steven, Derek, Jordan, and Simon throughout their round, it's evident that their passion for both music and golf shines through. Steven, a dedicated member and Bass Player of the Irvine & Dreghorn Brass band, has been instrumental in supporting the band in recent years and has made a significant effort in support of this charity event. His love for music is paralleled only by his skill on the golf course, making him a force to be reckoned with.

Derek, another avid golfer, has been a strong supporter and invaluable asset to the band band for years. His unwavering commitment to both the band and the game of golf is truly inspiring. His precision and focus on the course are a testament to his dedication as band manager and principle cornet player in the band.

Jordan, who is arguably a rising star in the golfing community, is another stalwart of the IDB family. His natural talent and infectious enthusiasm have made him a valuable addition to both the band and this charity event. With every swing of his club, he demonstrates the passion and determination that drive him to succeed.

Last but certainly not least, Simon brings a wealth of experience to the team. As a seasoned golfer and avid supporter of the band, Simon's expertise and leadership on the course Will help to drive the team to success on this challenge!

Together, these four remarkable individuals are making a difference in the lives of the talented musicians of Irvine & Dreghorn Brass band. By participating in this charity golf event, they are not only raising funds but also spreading awareness about the power of music and the importance of supporting local artistic endeavours.

The team started early this morning, teeing off on an overcast but thankfully cooler morning than we’ve been used to recently. Despite the lack of warm up, they are off to a fantastic start!

As we bid farewell to Loudoun Gowf Club and look forward to the next leg of this remarkable journey, we can't help but feel a sense of excitement for what's to come. Stay tuned for our next blog post as we explore Rowallan Castle Golf Club, where our golfers will continue their quest to make a difference.

A massive thanks to the course sponsor for this round: Connor Jenkins at Evolution Gym!
